ESM Chapters
Q. What purpose do ESM Association Chapters serve?
A. A local ESM Association Chapter is an autonomous, self-functioning legal body that exists for the same purpose and objectives as the national organization. A Chapter provides an educational and social forum for local interaction between employee services providers, human resource managers, work/life professionals, and more. Chapter members enjoy the opportunity to exchange experiences, ideas and knowledge with a group of local peers. Local suppliers also offer Chapter members products and services to help them with their jobs and pass on discounts to their employees.
Q. Where are your current Chapters located?
A. Current Chapters are located in various regions throughout the US. You can view ESM Association’s Chapter list online at our “Chapters of ESM” page on our website.
Q. What are the benefits of joining a Chapter?
A. Chapter Organizational members are entitled to all privileges and services of ESM Association at both the local and national levels. As an ESM Association Chapter member, you enjoy many local benefits. During regular Chapter meetings you gain from great networking opportunities and educational presentations. ESM Association also offers valuable member services, such as ESM Magazine, www.onMYtime.com, Listserve, NewsTracker, Member Surveys, and more. For additional information about these services, please visit www.esmassn.org/about/.
In addition to providing professional stimulation and information on current trends, a Chapter also acts as an organized body for implementing various activities, events and special offers that can be both beneficial and economical for the employees of Chapter members.
Q. What services does ESM Association provide its Chapters?
A. ESM Association offers the below services to affiliated Chapters. ESM Association has developed these services to assist local leaders in the administration of their Chapters and to enhance the partnership between Chapters and the national organization. For more information, please call ESM Association Headquarters at 630-559-0020 or e-mail esmahq@esmasn.org.

Q. How much does it cost to join a Chapter?
A. Chapter dues are $185/year. ESM Association retains the full amount of $185/year per member. Most Chapters elect to add additional dollars to this amount for income to the Chapter. For instance, a Chapter may choose to charge $200/year for Organizational membership. ESM Association retains $185/member and remits $15/member back to the Chapter. Most Chapters retain their entire Local Associate (supplier/vendor) member dues.
Q. What is the difference between Organizational and Associate memberships?
A. Organizational members are individuals representing business or government entities who are actively managing employee services and recreation programs as a full- or part-time employee or as a volunteer. These members often are in the human resource, employee services or work/life departments at their companies, or they oversee their organization’s employee club or serve on the board of an employee association.
Associate members are those companies, trade associations and other businesses that provide Organizational members with products and/or services to help them with their job responsibilities. These members often work in the sales or marketing departments of their companies and wish to network with and establish business relationships with Chapter members.
Q. How do I go about developing a Chapter in my area?
A. A steering committee of approximately four individuals is available to lay the groundwork for your Chapter. The committee may elect to appoint themselves as acting officers and assume the functions of president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. To get you started, please call ESM Association Headquarters at 630-559-0020 or e-mail esmahq@esmassn.org.
Q. Where can I get more information?
A. Current ESM Association members can log into the Member Resource Section of www.esmassn.org and access the Chapter Leader’s Toolbox. There you’ll find more information along with a Chapter Development Manual (pdf). Others interested in joining a Chapter, gaining more information about a Chapter in your area or learning how to start one, please call ESM Association Headquarters at 630-559-0020 or e-mail esmahq@esmassn.org.
