Q.  What is ESM Association’s financial position?

A.  ESM Association’s financial position is stable. For 2007, we operated in the black. ESM Association officers serve on a Finance Committee within the National Board of Directors. The Finance Committee reviews the financial statements on a monthly basis. As with any organization, the committee will conduct an audit with an independent auditor and an Audit Committee made up of non-Board members during 2008. Each year, a statement of ESM Association’s financial position will be posted in an issue of Employee Services Management Magazine.

Q.  What does ESM Association’s annual budget look like?
A.  Our budget is broken into four categories, each tracking income and expenses:
1.  Administrative (the day-to-day operation of the Association)
2.  Employee Services Management Magazine
3.  Annual Conference & Exhibit
4.  Internet (onMYtime.com)

Income and expenses are tracked monthly in each of these categories. An Accounts Payable, Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet also are generated on a monthly basis. The Finance Committee reviews these reports monthly, including monitoring year-to-date expenditures against the full-year plan.

Q.  How does ESM Association make money?
A.  ESM Association’s revenue sources are:
Membership dues
Annual Conference & Exhibit
onMYtime.com commissions
Advertising revenue
Sponsorship of programs and services
Certified Employee Services Professional (CESP) and Awards of Excellence programs

Q.  How does ESM Association allocate its money to serve its members?
A.  ESM Association creates a yearly budget based on anticipated income from our revenue sources. The budget builds in the cost of providing programs to members, such as:
•  Audio Conferences or special programs
•  Magazine publishing and distribution
•  Administrative expenses—the cost of running the ESM Association Headquarters office
•  Website management
•  Annual Conference & Exhibit speakers, entertainment, materials, etc.

Q.  How often does ESM Association present its business update to members?
A.  In recent years, ESM Association has focused on updating members monthly, through communications from the Executive Director and the President on issues that are pressing to the organization and its members. A statement of financial position is posted yearly in the Employee Services Management Association Magazine. Of course, members are encouraged to contact ESM Association Headquarters staff or the Board at any time with questions, suggestions or concerns.
