In Loving Memory of
Gloria Roque, CESP

With great sadness, we report that long-time member and
dear friend, Gloria Roque, CESP, passed away on April 12,
2008 following an illness. Gloria was a retired manager
of ABCs Affiliate Information Network and the
volunteer chair of the Employee Activities Committee at
ABC, New York, NY. She has been a member of ESM
Association for nearly 30 years.
Gloria
touched the lives of so many employees and members
through her sense of humor, hospitality and dedication to
the association.
Mary Lou Panzano, CESP, senior manager, communications,
Pfizer, Peapack, NJ, says, Those of you who knew
Gloria know that she was the epitome of what an ESM
member, Board participant and President should be. She
was a willing volunteer, always in touch with members,
always involved, and always got things done. She was a
great mentor to me personally and an inspiration to many
people...She believed as much in working hard and rolling
up your sleeves as she did in having a great time while
doing that. She will be truly missed by many, many
people.
Gloria served on many committees and held national
leadership positions with ESM Association including
National Director, Vice President and 1996 President.
Gloria also was very active in the local New York City
Chapter, having served as President for a number of
years. She assisted with the planning of Northeast
Regional Conferences as part of the associations
former Regional Council. In 1999, Gloria received ESM
Associations Distinguished Service Award for her
outstanding long-time contributions of time and expertise
to the association.
Gloria earned her certification as a Certified Employee
Services Professional (CESP), wrote articles for ESM
Magazine and chaired many educational sessions at the
conference. She attended many of ESM Associations
Annual Conferences & Exhibits. In recent years, she
volunteered to greet attendees at the registration desk.
Gloria
is survived by daughter, Kim Capers, son, Kevin Williams,
four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Gloria
often traveled to ESM Association events with Kim, who
previously served on the Board of the local North
Carolina Triangle Chapter. The ESM Association Board of
Directors and members would like to express their deepest
sympathy to Glorias loved ones. We will miss her
dearly.
